HE HAS DONE IT !

They were very comfortable with it. The procedure for work was designed

long long back. Nobody knows for certain when it was introduced. But they were all well versed with the work.

They have been doing it in the same way all these years. And it was easy for

them to do the work again and again in the very same fashion.

One day I was on my way to Kodaikanal on a pleasure trip.

That gave me ample time to think, and think over. My favourable subject was simplification of office procedures. So I selected an area and thought of a simplified procedure for doing the work.

A scheme was devised for new business. Necessary office procedure was

conceived and tools devised. It was introduced in a selected department.

A particular branch centre was selected for the reason there were hundreds of

files pending there.

There were good results within a couple of weeks of the introduction of the new work procedure. Divisional head was very appreciative of the progress

of work. And the sales force also was happy for the simple

reason that they were able to get all amounts due to them very fast.

There was appreciation pouring from all corners.

And I was closely watching the progress we have been making.

It was proved beyond an iota of doubt that good progress of work

could be accomplished .

Then came the shock.

I came to know from the Manager of the Department that the

supervisor in charge of the particular section had claimed all credits for the improvements in work accomplished.

He had informed the divisional head of the reason for the progress of work.

Reason : Supervisor had taken home the bulk of work

and completed it doing extra work at his place.

That he was there when arrears of work mounted is no argument.

That this particular branch centre was selected because of

work arrears was again no excuse.

When there was success, suddenly the credit was taken away by somebody.

" Sir, I did it ! "
